EXTRA Wtdnesday, AUGUST 26, 1992 a i i-VTiinri WmPW" 44E-XTRA (502 443-9872) I would like to thank The Paducah Sun for the excellent coupon selection in today's Sunday paper. I collect coupons as a hobby and finding this variety in a local paper is very much appreciated. I I fib Here is a suggestion to help Paducah continue its downtown beautification project. Why not paint the floodwall? I've lived in various river towns all my life and several of them have used the retaining walls to display beautiful murals of river life and optical illusions of buildings, etc Some have hired professional artists but the paintings are usually done by a local youth group or high school art classes. They last about 10 years and since young people are so involved and can point to their work with pride for many years, the graffiti problems are less than you think.

The floodwall is necessary and functional but it doesn't have to be ugly. We can use it to set out the spirit of the community. I think this town is growing too slowly. They really need to get some industry in here because my grandkids keep moving out of state and moving down the road to find some real jobs. I think Paducah just needs to get on the ball and get some more industry and business in here so we can keep our grandkids in this area.
